Apparently I'm not a very good Blogger!
When I have free time, I usually spend it sewing rather than blogging. I've been pretty busy lately trying to finish machine quilting and binding several quilts I've made that will be donated to Project Linus. I will try to post a few pictures once I get them all done. There will be 10 of them once I'm caught up. Five are completely done. Two just got quilted today and are in the process of finishing up the binding on them. There are three more that are pieced and waiting for their turn on the Longarm.

Well, obviously working a full-time job doesn't leave me much time to blog....
I've also been busy making several more baby quilts. Here's my most recent one:
I have become addicted to watching Quilting tutorials on YouTube lately. The Missouri Star Quilt Company has some of the absolute best videos. I found this pattern on their site and made it in just a few days. To make this block you need to stitch together five 2-1/2 inch strips of fabric approximately 11" in length. I ironed all of the seam allowances in the same direction for this project. Once you have all of your blocks sewn and ironed, you need to square them up into 10-1/2 inch square blocks. For the above baby quilt, I used 18 of the 10-1/2 inch blocks. Take two blocks and place them right sides together. One block should have the strips running horizontal, while the other block has the strips running vertical. Pin the two blocks together and stitch a 1/4" seam allowance around the outside edges of the two blocks. Set the seams with your iron. Using your rotary wheel cut the block on both diagonals to create 4 new blocks. Iron your new blocks and decide how you want them to be assembled.
This quilt was a great way to use up a lot of scrap pieces.
Here's another one of my recent baby quilts:
As you can see, I love quilts with lots of color!
My other recent love is to create t-shirt quilts. Here are a few of my favorites
I hope you enjoy these quilts!

Welcome!
Welcome to my new blog! My name is Debbie, and I am The Scrappy Quilter! I have been busy creating new items to launch my Etsy shop "The Scrappy Quilter" very soon. I'm starting out with some fun pillowcases.
After that, I'll be adding a few of the fleece hats that I make for my daughter. We began a joint venture 6 years ago. She was looking for a way to help pay for her college tuition and came up with the idea of me creating several cute fleece anime hats that she sold at a local anime convention. That first year I made about 60 hats and was sure that she'd probably end up bringing back home at least 55 of them. To our amazement, she sold every one of them! Woot! A cottage industry was born. While our perennial favorites every year have been Gir (from Invader Zim) and Pikachu, we have probably sold over 500 hats by now. Wow! I'm tired just thinking of making that many hats.

Besides making these fun fleece hats, I've made tons of baby quilts. My recent favorite is the Tropical Fish ones that I made for two of my nieces who both had babies in August. They both live in Florida, so the Tropical Fish theme seemed to fit both of them very well.

One of my other most interesting quilts was the one my son requested of a Sprite. He converted a picture he found into a grid design which I used to piece together over 1000 2" blocks. I'm not sure that I'd be able to make another project like this one, but it did really turn out nice. (And my son loved it too!)
Sprite quilt for Matthew
The Sprite Quilt fit beautifully on a double sized bed.
I'll be sharing more on some of my current and past projects. I hope you enjoy them. As soon as my new Etsy shop is ready to be launched, I'll be posting pictures of the items that will be available to purchase.
