Welcome to my new blog! My name is Debbie, and I am The Scrappy Quilter! I have been busy creating new items to launch my Etsy shop "The Scrappy Quilter" very soon. I'm starting out with some fun pillowcases.
After that, I'll be adding a few of the fleece hats that I make for my daughter. We began a joint venture 6 years ago. She was looking for a way to help pay for her college tuition and came up with the idea of me creating several cute fleece anime hats that she sold at a local anime convention. That first year I made about 60 hats and was sure that she'd probably end up bringing back home at least 55 of them. To our amazement, she sold every one of them! Woot! A cottage industry was born. While our perennial favorites every year have been Gir (from Invader Zim) and Pikachu, we have probably sold over 500 hats by now. Wow! I'm tired just thinking of making that many hats.

Besides making these fun fleece hats, I've made tons of baby quilts. My recent favorite is the Tropical Fish ones that I made for two of my nieces who both had babies in August. They both live in Florida, so the Tropical Fish theme seemed to fit both of them very well.

One of my other most interesting quilts was the one my son requested of a Sprite. He converted a picture he found into a grid design which I used to piece together over 1000 2" blocks. I'm not sure that I'd be able to make another project like this one, but it did really turn out nice. (And my son loved it too!)

The Sprite Quilt fit beautifully on a double sized bed.
I'll be sharing more on some of my current and past projects. I hope you enjoy them. As soon as my new Etsy shop is ready to be launched, I'll be posting pictures of the items that will be available to purchase.
